Approved Herd Sire ABHA

D15 - Our primary herd sire is a son of JO Bull Classic Smith 2008.  D15 is an Approved Herd Sire in ABHA - HB free, NH free, IE free, DD free, MSUD free and is HOMOBLACK. We were most fortunate to obtain a bull with his background and with such promise locally. We have been using D15 since we purchased him from Triple C in 2017. He is producing very eye-pleasing calves with plenty of 'Black' color.   His oldest daughter has a bull calf from JN Balder D403 born January 16, 2020.

3C's D15 OF JB CLASSIC SMITH HB008604

JN Balder D403

We selected this Artificial Insemination sire based upon a number of criteria.

He was heavily promoted by J&N , has been used extensively world wide  and has excellent eye appeal. Our breeding was concluded in April 2019.

We now have three calves on the ground  in January 2020:

JK D403 Baldee 1705-2002

JK JN-D403 Balder 2003

JK JN-D403 Balder 2004.

Both Bull Calves qualify as Approved Herd Sires in ABHA based upon recent testing.

The 2004 Bull calf is from a F1 dam and is unrelated to our 3C's D15  of JB Classic Smith 2008 daughters; therefore, he should be an excellent out cross  for them. The 2003 bull calf is from a D15 daughter so he may be available for sale at some future date.

One can find a lot of detail about history of the breed on their site.

Current 2020 breeding plans are to utilize Big Kahuna on our primary

 brood matron.

JK MS HEADLINE 9013-0902 P43066216 has both

VINDICATOR and  ENFORCER in her maternal background.

In fact her dam JK VINDICATE 797-9013 was a Benchmark Dam

in the American Polled Hereford Association.

0902  has typically had bull calves but twin F1 daughters are currently in the herd. We are very excited to see what a mating to Big Kahuna will produce. We anticipate that this offspring will potentially add some size to our herd should the calf be a bull.

Quoting from the JO Bulls site: ' Kahuna is a large, powerful Trust grandson that is homozygous black and homozygous polled. He is also high percentage Hereford. His dam is awesome and is also the mother to Black Jack and Vadar, AM, DD, IE, NH, and MSUD Free!'

JO Bulls Dark Vadar

Current 2020 breeding plans are also to utilize Vadar on several of our more mature Black Hereford females.

Quoting from the JO Bulls site: 'Vadar has the growth of his sire Lightning with the maternal power of Black Jack’s dam. He weaned off at 820 lbs., and had a yearling weight of 1,255 lbs. This half brother to Black Jack is thick everywhere. He will add pigment, growth, and maternal power. AM, DD, IE, NH, and MSUD Free!'

We anticipate that his calves will be real crowd pleasers and the fact that JO Bulls is high on him is a plus.

JO Bulls Black Jack

Current 2020 breeding plans are also to utilize Black Jack on several of our first calvers. He has an exceptional history at JO Bulls and our anticipation is  that he should be ideal for our young D15 daughters.

Quoting from the JO Bulls site 'Black Jack is the real deal. He is homozygous black and homozygous polled and is a purebred (87.5%).

His dam is awesome and comes from one of our best cow families.

We have never used a bull as heavily as we are using Black Jack.

AM, DD, DL, HY, IE, NH, and MSUD Free!'

JO Bulls Bullseye

Our current plans for 2020 breeding also include the obtaining of two D411/700 embryos.

Quoting from the JO Bulls site: 'JN BULLSEYE JO D411 is the top genetics in the ABHA. He is the highest selling bull in the ABHA history ($19,000 for 3/4 Interest). He combines the proven Hereford lines of Ribeye and Harland, with 9405 and 8079. He is thick. long, and has excellent calving ease. His first calf crop averaged 68 lbs. AM, DD, DL, HY, IE, NH, and MSUD FREE!'

The dam for the embryos  is JO 344 BLACK SUGAR 700 ET HB010944 .

700 is an outstanding daughter of JO FINAL ANSWER TUNDRA 344 HB005815. 344 is a favorite of JO Bulls and the future of 700 is extremely bright.

This is our first experience with embryo transplantation and we are very eager to see the results.
